Magrath Fire Dept
Standard Operating Protocols Manual
Situation: Fire call at the Grain Elevators (view
sketch).
Location: On the north side of Magrath next to the railroad tracks.
Staging Area: In the parking lot south of the Custom Windows & Doors (old
Tanco) building.
Magrath Equipment Allocation:
- Pumper 2: At the south west corner of the elevators. 2 x 65mm hoses
connected from Pumper 3.
- Pumper 3: In area north of the Tanco Hydrant running a connection from
the hydrant across from Arndt Motors, running in relay to Pumper 2 using 2
x 65mm lines.
- Pumper 4: Setup at 1st Street W by Blue Goose Gas Station. Watch for
ignitions due to flying fire brands.
- Town Crew: Supply road blocking within the Town of Magrath. Report to
staging area.
Mutual Aid:
- Raymond: To connect to the Tanco Hydrant and run 2-65 mm lines to a
point south of the elevators, to run relay to Cardston Fire Department when
they arrive.
- Cardston: To connect to Raymond Fire Department as forward end of relay
south of the elevators. Exact location to be at the discretion of the
incident commander.
- Lethbridge: Request an aerial and pumper combination. Pumper to be
located at the hydrant on 2nd Street W and 2nd Ave N. Needs 114mm and 65mm
connections. The aerial to be located on the west (up wind) side of the
elevators involved supplied with water from their pumper. Their exact
location to be decided the incident commander in conference with their
captain.
- Coaldale: To be located on the north west of the Elevators. Their water
supply will be portable tank supplied by water tankers.
- Sterling: To be located to the north west of the elevators. Their water
supply will be portable tank supplied by water tankers.
- Colonies: Request from each of the colonies possible, tanker trucks to
supply water to the fire trucks on the north side of the elevators. It will
require 3 tankers for each fire pumper. Tankers can fill at any of the
hydrants not being used within Town of Magrath.
Action Notes:
- Highway blockoff: Corner at the junction of Highways 5 and 62. Allow
traffic east, west and north. South traffic will be local only at the
intersection east of Magrath at the junction of 2nd Ave N in Magrath and
Highway 5.
- Magrath Streets: All streets should be blocked so there is no traffic
north of 2nd Ave N.
