Magrath 'Lions Park' upgrade project
In Jan 2003, in addition to our regular projects, we begin fund-raising
for the much needed upgrade to the old playground equipment at our aging
Lions Park (located at the comer of 2nd St West and 2nd Ave South on the west
side of Magrath).
Phase 1 will include removal of existing wooden structures and a review of
needed upgrades. Future phases are now under discussion.
We hope to work together with other interested community members to plan
and fund this project starting with our planning meeting on Jan 21, 2003.
This playground serves pre-school and elementary children ages 2-9+ ..
children right here in our town. Want you help? See the club website for more
breaking information at: magrath.freeservers.com/lionsclub/lionpark.htm
Invite a friend to Charter Night 7pm Tue 20 May 2003.
We plan to hold our 65th Charter Night open house program in
May this year at the Magrath Seniors Center. We will have light refreshments,
display tables and a short 30 minute presentation. This will be a great way
to introduce prospective members to the club. We have prepared a form for you
to list persons to be invited and will send out an official invitation letter
and updated club fact sheets to each person on your list, after checking for
duplicates.
Start thinking now, the form should be returned by the
mid-August at the latest so that we can get the letters prepared to send out
in the first week of September 2002. See also: magrath.freeservers.com/lionsclub/friends2002.htm
New Affiliate Status now available.
For existing and prospective members who wish to be in the
club but cannot commit to regular attendance, we now offer an 'Affiliate'
status membership where meeting attendance is optional. Just come when you
can! Affiliate members can vote on local club business when they are present
at a meeting and can work on committees but cannot hold club office and pay
slightly higher annual dues.
We plan to send re-invitation letters to former club members to invite
them to the charter night open house and give them the option of coming back
to support the club.
Meeting schedules for 2002-2003
For the 2002-2003 club year we will hold dinner meetings on 1st Tuesday of
each month and regular meetings on 3rd Tuesday of each month.

Annual Dues News .. Ongoing Discussion
Where does our money go? Annual dues are collected to cover commitments to
district, multiple district and Lions Club International organizations. Each
year we now pay $46 US per club member to LCI, MD37, and to District 37C to
keep things going. These funds are used for ongoing administration - the LCI
website at www.lionsclubs.org,
publications, for conventions and other regional and other world wide
programs.
Currently our annual dues are set at $46 US or $75 CDN for Active members
and $61 US or $100 CDN for Affiliate members.
